Associate Professor of Education at University of Birmingham

Ian McGimpsey is Associate Professor of Education in the Department of Education and Social Justice at the University of Birmingham. His work is concerned with inequality and social justice, and has a conceptual focus on assemblage and the politics of subjectivity. Following ten years’ professional experience in youth services, community organising, and education policy, he researches how policy is made and how it relates to educational provision particularly for marginalised young people.
