Stephanie King is an Early Career Academic at the University of Derby.
In 2024, she completed her PhD at Nottingham Trent University, supervised by Dr Andrew Clapham and Dr Anne O’Grady. Examiners were Professor Geraldine Brady and Professor Sally Tomlinson.

The thesis draws on critical realism to analyse lived experience of school exclusion and the perpetuation of social inequalities.
Having previously been a teacher in a Pupil Referral Unit, Stephanie pursued an interest in SEND, becoming a specialist teacher, undertaking the National SENDCo award and then an MA in SEN & Inclusion. She now teaches and continues to research in the area of inclusion / exclusion and SEND.
