Smriti Safaya is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of York, where she earned her PhD in Education. Her current research focuses on the impact of experiential environmental education on how youth feel, think and act towards nature. She is an experienced educator, having previously worked in international schools in Hong Kong teaching geography and environmental issues using experiential approaches. Smriti has led a number of professional development workshops for school staff about experiential and place-based learning, sustainability and service learning. Her favourite place to teach and learn is ‘where the action is.
