Ben Knight, Dr

Senior Lecturer at University of the West of England

Dr Ben Knight is a senior lecturer in Education and former teacher and school leader. He lectures on Initial Teacher Education (ITE) postgraduate programmes, master’s and doctoral programmes at the University of the West of England in Bristol, UK. His research interests include investigating teaching and learning from a complex systems perspective and applications of complexity theory to education. This includes exploring ways that learning emerges within collectives. Understanding the complexities of school and classroom systems, he also researches and writes about the importance and development of teacher judgement. Ben is Pedagogy Strand leader for UWE’s Education & Childhood Research Group and is the founder and Director of Project Zulu, an international education partnership between UWE and school districts in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Ben’s first book titled Nurturing Professional Judgement was published by Critical Publishing in October 2023.
