Victoria Bamsey

Victoria Bamsey is a lecturer in education and early childhood studies at the University of Plymouth. She is passionate about the early years and fascinated by the increasing number of children accessing home education or alternative forms of education. Her doctorate in education focusses on the activity of parents choosing education for their four-year-old child at the start of their educational career. She is particularly interested in how the experience of choosing education is complex, built upon a parent’s history and experiences, their intra-actions within society and through relationalities. Her thinking has been influenced by Vygotsky’s theory of activity as a cultural, social and historical mediated process.
