Kathryn Stowell

Head of Outreach and Augmentative and Alternative Communication at Charlton Park Academy

Kathryn Stowell is currently the Head of Outreach and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) at Charlton Park Academy, including leading the Outreach service CENMAC, which provides assistive technology in education services across London. Kathryn is one of the leading experts on the Department for Education’s EDTECH Assistive Technology Group and has worked in partnership with the RIX Centre, University of East London on projects involving multimedia self-advocacy and person-centred practices. Kathryn has extensive experiences teaching in special education. She has taught students with profound and multiple learning disability (PMLD), complex needs and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), in a variety of settings from early years to secondary school. She has a particular interest in embedding person-centred, creative and inclusive practices, and has a passion for enabling access to learning and communication for everyone through inclusive and innovative technologies.
