Kate Russell, Dr

Associate Professor at University of East Anglia

Dr Kate Russell is a senior lecturer in physical education and sport at the University of East Anglia’s School of Education and Lifelong Learning. Her research areas focus on the impact and perceptions of gender and sexuality in sport contexts and the role of photographic representations of elite athletes in shaping role model meaning for younger athletes both in the UK and Australia. In addition, Kate also researches the development of teacher identity among trainee teachers, with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ groups. Her current work is on the understanding of and need for mental health and wellbeing support for trainee teachers in the UK. In addition, she is also chair of research ethics in the School of Education and Lifelong Learning.
