Julie Stirrup, Dr

Dr Julie Stirrup is a lecturer in physical education and sport pedagogy in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences at Loughborough University. She is a former physical education (PE) teacher and currently teaches on the undergraduate sport science, coaching and physical education programme as well as the PE PGCE. Julie’s research centres on PE and its role within the curriculum and young people’s lives from the early years through to secondary education. She has a particular interest in issues of social class and health discourse, with recent work focussing on primary school children’s experiences of PE delivered through outsourcing. Julie has published in peer-reviewed journals and books in the areas of PE and health.
