Hiroko Hara is Associate Professor in the Centre for General Education, Prefectural University of Kumamoto, Japan. She received a M.A. and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Trained as a critical educationalist and filmmaker, her research has mostly focused on the identity (trans)formation of marginalized populations (e.g., refugees, immigrants, and hyphenated people) and the visualization of an alternative space promoting diversity.
