Emma is a Reader in the Department of Education at Brunel University London. Her research focuses on the geographies of education, training and welfare/work, with particular interest in higher education and student experience; family, parenting and home-school engagement; embodiment, body work and emotional labour. Current and recent research has focused on the growth of tuition centres for primary-aged children, enactments of home-schooling during Covid-19, and geographies of free food provision among university students. Emma’s work typically engages low-income, marginalised and ‘hard to reach’ groups.
