Debbie Bogard has taught history and politics in further education (FE) and secondary school settings for 25 years. Debbie leads on teacher development and practitioner research in her current FE institutional role. Debbie’s academic background includes an MA in Contemporary History and Politics where she completed work on the politics of internment. She is a member of the Chartered College of Teaching and was part of the first cohort to complete the newly designed National Professional Qualification in Leading Teacher Development (November 2022). Debbie’s research activities include developing and embedding both metacognitive strategies and free writing in FE curricula, and working towards decolonising the curriculum through using oral histories in the classroom.
