Angela Rekers-Power, Dr

Lecturer at St Ambrose University

Angela Rekers-Power is a lecturer in early childhood education at St Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa. Her teaching career started in the field of secondary English, then shifted to environmental education with learners of all ages and abilities due to her desire to get her students and herself outdoors. She has spent the past 20 years teaching in further and higher education, and delivering professional development training for teaching staff in forest school, literacy in the outdoors, school grounds development, emotional literacy and wellbeing.

Research interests include multimodal literacy, posthumanist perspectives, decolonising pedagogies, and children’s engagement with outdoor space(s). Angela recently co-edited with Grindheim, L. T. and Sørensen, H. V. Outdoor Learning and Play: Pedagogical Practices and Children’s Cultural Formation (Springer, 2021).
