Wayne Holmes (PhD, University of Oxford) is full Professor of Critical Studies of Artificial Intelligence and Education at University College London (UCL) in the UCL Knowledge Lab, IOE (UCL's Faculty of Education and Society). He is also a Senior Researcher at the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence, under the auspices of UNESCO (Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia), an Associate Professor (Adjunct) at the University of Nova Gorica (Slovenia), and a Foreign Expert at Beijing Normal University Zhuhai (China).

Wayne's policy work includes advising the ministries of education of Portugal, Cyprus and the UK, being a consultant for multiple units in UNESCO, and leading the Council of Europe’s expert group on AI and education (which is developing a legal instrument to regulate the use of AI in education in order to protect the human rights of teachers and students). Wayne has given invited keynotes on critical studies of AI and education in more than 20 countries around the world (Belgium, China, Columbia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Mexico, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand and the USA), and invited talks in many others.
