Terry Hanley CPsychol, AFBPsS, PhD, Dr

Senior Lecturer in Counselling Psychology at University of Manchester

Terry is a Reader in Counselling Psychology at the University of Manchester and an Associate Director of Research for the School of Environment, Education and Development. He is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council and an Associate Fellow and Chartered member of the British Psychological Society. Additionally, he is co-author of Introducing Counselling and Psychotherapy Research (with William West and Clare Lennie) and Editor of Adolescent Counselling Psychology (with Neil Humphrey and Clare Lennie) and The SAGE Handbook of Counselling and Psychotherapy (4thed.) (with Colin Feltham and Laura Winter). His research has focused upon examining ways of working therapeutically with young people and young adults in educational settings and exploring the developing practice of offering mental health and wellbeing support online. Most recently he has been developing ideas about the development of Positive Virtual Ecosystems alongside the online counselling and support service for young people, Kooth.
