René Hartmann, Ms

Lecturer at St. Mary's University

René Hartmann joined the Primary Education Team at St Mary’s University, Twickenham in 2013 and teaches on the Primary undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for initial teacher training.
Rene has taught in primary schools in Johannesburg, South Africa, and in West Dulwich, South London. She also worked as a trainer and assessor across industries in many parts of South Africa as well as Namibia and Botswana. However, primary school teaching is her area of expertise and she continues to learn and develop as a teacher.
She is passionate about mathematics and the beauty and creativity of the subject. Her current research is: What are the difficulties that hinder, and the strategies that enable, pre-service teaching students with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in learning to teach mathematics?
Rene is the Y1 coordinator and enjoys seeing how first-year students develop into highly professional and dedicated third years and subsequently become confident ECTs.
