Paul Richardson, Dr

Assistant Professor- Teachers for Educational Equity (Malaysia) at University of Birmingham

Paul Richardson is a senior lecturer and co-leads the English team on the PGCE primary course at Bath Spa University. He has previously been involved with Teach First and the Troops to Teachers programmes. Before becoming a teacher educator, he taught English as a second language to both children and adults in Thailand and Vietnam, and then worked as a primary teacher in England for several years.

He is presently working on his EdD thesis, focusing on the relationship between rural schools and multi-academy trusts in primary education. He also currently leads a small research project looking at perceptions of literacy and learning during the national lockdowns. His other research interests include gender in primary education, the internationalisation of initial teacher education, and the use of comics in the primary classroom.
