Laurel Smith, Ms

Senior Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University

I am a Senior Lecturer in Primary and Early Years Education at Sheffield Hallam University, where I lead our English Initial Teacher Education curriculum across PGCE and Undergraduate courses. I am also a doctoral student at Sheffield Hallam and my research study is focusing on dialogic approaches to teaching practice and student teachers' professional identity construction. I am particularly interested in creative research methodologies, and this is a key aspect of my study where I am taking a visual narrative inquiry approach. More broadly, my research interests include oracy and dialogic education, teacher identity and reflective practice, and the creative teaching of English in primary education.
