Karen Blackmore, Dr

Principal Lecturer at University of Worcester

Originally a bio-pharmaceutical scientist, Karen has taught in a range of schools and university academic departments for over 20 years. Her present position is Principal Lecturer in Science Education at the University of Worcester, where she uses her expertise to lead the primary science initial teacher education provision. Karen has led a number of classroom based empirical research projects, including the design and evaluation of innovative technology enhanced pedagogy. Her publications in this area have been used as a basis for research informed teaching with her student teachers, including her recently co-edited research-based monologue Social and Learning Relationships in Primary Schools (Routledge, 2020). Karen is also interested in teacher professional identity and efficacy, which she explores with her student teachers to examine the impact of these constructs on the development of effective social and learning relationships within teaching.
