Islean Gibson, Miss

Headteacher at Dounby Community School

Islean Gibson is from Dounby Community School. With Rhona Black, she is in the thick of developing learner-led action research across the school. As a team, Islean and Rhona have been exploring the meaning of belonging to a school community and why it matters, utilising creative leadership and research-based approaches to build ownership and community. Core to this is the voice and direction of pupils, who are readily engaging in this new way of working, with some surprising and some highly imaginative ways to really change their ways of engaging with discovering and leading change.
