Gary Standinger, Dr

Teacher of Physical Education at Loughborough University

Gary J Standinger is a teacher of physical education at a secondary academy and sixth form in south-west England and a part-time PhD student at Loughborough University. He recently submitted his doctoral thesis titled: ‘Achieving Mastery: an evolved grounded theory of Lead Learners’ views on feedback and assessment’. Before embarking on a career as a secondary school teacher, Gary studied for a BSc (Hons) in sport and exercise sciences at the University of Gloucestershire. Following this, he was a cover supervisor at a secondary school in south-west England. In 2012, Gary gained a PGCE in physical education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), followed by an MSc in education in 2014 at Loughborough University. Gary’s research interests include ‘youth voice’, ‘feedback literacy’ and ‘student agency’ within secondary education.
