Galina Nam is a PhD Candidate at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. Galina’s doctoral research focuses on the development and implementation of inclusive education policies for children and young adults with disabilities in Uzbekistan. The paper will present an overview of the development and implementation of inclusive education policies in Uzbekistan. Particular emphasis will be placed on how key informants, namely parents of children with disabilities, teachers of general and specialised schools and NGO representatives, perceive the concept of inclusive education, what they see as the critical issues in introducing inclusive education practices, and how their experiences could
potentially inform its better provision.
