Cath Gristy, Dr

Lecturer in Education-Education Studies at Plymouth Institute of Education (Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business)

My first degree was a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Biology and I have a secondary Science Post Graduate Certificate of Education. My Masters degree was in Special Education and I focused on the voice of young people in SEN processes and practices. My doctoral thesis, Life on the edge: the role played by school in the lives of young people from a rural community in the South West of England, reflects my interest in issues of inclusion and education in rural contexts. I am a member of the British Education Research Association, the European Education Research Association, World Education Research Association and the Society for Research into Higher Education.

I am a member of the management committee of a community Youth Club. I also co-convene a locality youth hub which supports leaders who work with children and young people
