Carys Jennings, Mrs

Curriculum Tutor at The Open University in Wales

Carys Jennings has a passion for wellbeing, especially children’s wellbeing. She has been involved in many projects involving authoring practical materials for teachers and pupils, supporting schools with developing outdoor spaces and encouraging practitioners to begin their journeys as researchers to share good practice and inform others. Carys began her professional education career as an early years teacher and early years lead in a school before moving on to lead on the early years within initial teacher education programmes. Carys is currently a curriculum tutor on the PGCE Wales programme. Her research interests include gender and play, engaging environments, and purposeful pedagogies. She is currently undertaking her EdD studies focusing on children’s happiness in school and hopes the work will speak to the profession, as well as the wider research community, of the importance of voices when researching the lived lives of those who inhabit those spaces.
