Carole Torgerson is Professor of Educational Evaluation in the Department of Education at the University of York. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, and an honorary Professor of Education at Durham University. She was previously Professor of Experimental Design at Birmingham University and Visiting Professor at the National Social Research Centre in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her work focuses on rigorous education and social policy evaluation using randomised controlled trial, quasi-experimental and systematic review designs. She also undertakes methodological work in aspects of trial design.
