Annu Pabla, Miss

Senior Lecturer at University of Derby

Annu Pabla is a senior lecturer and mathematics leader for primary initial teacher education (ITE) at the University of Derby. She leads the provision of mathematics across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and supports trainees with pedagogical and practical knowledge within mathematics. Prior to her role as a senior lecturer, Annu held several leadership and senior management roles in primary schools and in a SEN secondary school including deputy headteacher, mathematics co-ordinator, SENCO, assessment leader and school governor. Working primarily in Derbyshire, she has developed an excellent reputation for supporting professional colleagues to enhance their mathematics provision within the classroom while capturing high levels of interest, motivation and curiosity for the subject. More recently, she led and developed research around mastery mathematics, exploring its origins and theoretical foundations and its potential to promote deep levels of mathematical thinking. Annu is hugely passionate about mathematical enrichment and enjoyment, and ardently demonstrates this through a variety of forums including teaching ITE trainees, delivering external workshops to school colleagues and presenting at conferences.
