Ammal Gillani, Miss

Lecturer in Education at Brunel University

Ammal Gillani is a lecturer in education at Brunel University London, and teaches on the postgraduate primary initial teacher education programme (ITE). She is also part of the Education, Identities and Society research group at the university. Ammal has worked in primary education for more than 12 years in various boroughs across London. Her research interests fall in the areas of: educational inequality; social justice; culture; and identity. Ammal studied for a Master’s in Education, Policy and Society at King’s College London. Her MA research study applied and used the theoretical lens of intersectionality to understand and analyse at a deeper level, what had been the impact of Covid-19 on the attainment of disadvantaged pupils.
