Jennifer Norris, Ms

Doctoral researcher at University of Nottingham

Jennifer Norris joined the University of Nottingham in 2020 as an ESRC-funded doctoral student in the School of Education, working within the Centre for Research in Mathematics Education. Alongside this, she works in the study skills team at the University of Bristol, supporting STEM students with academic skills development. Jennifer previously worked in mathematics teaching and mathematics support in a wide range of settings, including state and independent secondary schools, alternative provision and further education. These experiences led to an interest in the impact of national policy change on both students’ experiences of mathematics and their mathematical skill development, particularly within post-16 education. Jennifer’s current research looks at the ways in which quantitative skills development is offered in the post-16 curriculum in England, and how these skills are (or are not) transferred to the university setting.
