Cara Baer, Miss

Doctoral Teaching Assistant at University of Plymouth

Cara Baer is a PhD student, lecturer and researcher at the University of Plymouth (UK). Her research interests are in equitable opportunities within higher education and society, particularly through a social justice lens. Cara’s doctoral study explores community inclusion for disabled adults through a participatory lens, to gain insight into participants’ perspectives and experiences of inclusion. The study intends to provide guidance for education and policy for the disabled community by learning from spaces outside of formal education, to support the development of more equitable and inclusive practices. The findings may also contribute towards deeper understandings of participatory work with disabled individuals, demonstrating how to navigate ethical tensions and encourage a space for excluded voices within research.
