Religions, Values and Education – Annual meeting and collaborative space

As a Special Interest Group, we want our members to feel valued. We are planning for more opportunities to hear from more members across the Religions, Values and Education field. Our annual meeting will seek to give space through open forums for our community to share, collaborate, support, and plan.

We know that research can be isolating and competitive. Whatever career stage you are at, we want to bring our members together to nurture a strong and confident research environment that brings Religions, Values and Educational researchers together. Through the open forums, we are facilitating times for networking and building community.

The focus will be on research relating to Religions, Values and Education but we invite members of other SIGs to join us to explore cross-SIG work and the intersectionality of research within different fields. We will explore possible BERA collaborations including through research, blogs, conference abstract submissions, and podcasts. If you have experience in one, none, or all of these areas, we want to hear from you.

Possible Stimuli for discussion include:

  • Are Muslims seen as a suspect community- what can education do?
  • How do religious values and LGBTQ+ values align in the Equality Act 2020?
  • How do researchers gain access to marginalised groups?
  • Bring your own ideas……

Research in Religions, Values and Education is often linked to difference, diversity, and coming together. As a SIG, we want to translate this research into practice. We hope that members from all the four nations and beyond, and those who have been marginalised in our societies, will join our sessions and feel as if they have a research home.

Everyone is welcome at our SIG; we are looking forward to seeing you at our autumn event.
