Following a teaching career in mainstream and special schools in the UK and Greece, Chrysoula started her academic career in Higher Education in 2017 teaching across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with a focus on Primary Education Studies, Early Years, Educational Leadership and Special Educational Needs. She supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students’ dissertations in the wider field of education and childhood studies. Chrysoula has extensive experience in online teaching and supporting university students in distance learning UG and PG courses.

She received her Ph.D. in Autism and Educational Technology from Coventry University and her MEd in Inclusion and Special Educational Needs with Distinction from the University of Birmingham. In her PhD she used participatory action research methodologies to explore good autism practice and iPads’ contribution in the development of social communication skills.

Chrysoula has a keen interest in conducting school-based research investigating the potential of interactive technologies in learning and children’s development. She has been involved in a wide range of research projects including inclusive curriculum approaches in Higher Education (2020-2021), secondary teacher training (2019-2020), social engagement of children with special educational needs (2018-2019) and educational technology for young learners in disadvantaged areas (2017-2018).

She is interested in community engagement and translating research into classroom practice. She is working in close partnership with teachers, parents, and children as co-researchers. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She is a frequent peer reviewer in research journals and speaker in national and international conferences in the field of autism and digital technologies.
