Tanya Cotier, Mrs

Tanya is currently the Course Lead for the Masters in Special Educational Needs at the University of East London. She also teaches on undergraduate education, early childhood and SEND core modules. This is a role she has been in for almost 3 years now and most recently has taken on the role of SENCo in the Education and Community department. She began her career as a primary teacher and has taught every year group from Nursery to year 6, taking on several roles, but as a SENCo she was part of the senior leadership team. She then worked for her local authority as a specialist teacher for autism and also for Speech, Language and Communication Differences supporting schools, families and children with training for understanding and support strategies and as such was also a trainer on the Award in Education and Training. Tanya then joined the INSET team where she developed and ran training for SENCos and was a part of the team leading the ‘National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination’. Tanya is also a PhD student where her research focus lies with SEND provision in higher education.
