Dr Su Lyn Corcoran is a Research Associate at the Education and Social Research Institute, Manchester Metropolitan University and Programme Officer at the Enabling Education Network. Drawing on over a decade’s experience of teaching STEM subjects and theory of knowledge in the UK and the international sector, and just as long working for international non-governmental organisations delivering programmes in lower income countries, Su takes a cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary approach to research. Her research focuses on ‘blue sky inclusion’ (inclusive education in the broadest sense), working with artists, teachers and social work practitioners to explore: qualitative data generation, arts-based methods and monitoring and evaluation; street-connectedness; equity in education and social justice; displacement; competency-based curricula; STEAM; and teacher education in the UK and East Africa.
The presentation that Su and Cathy conducted as part of the BERA conference relates to research done as part of the external evaluation of the Tim Peake Primary Project for STEM Learning and ESERO UK. The paper is currently being drafted but the evaluation report is available here: https://www.stem.org.uk/resources/elibrary/resource/446407/tim-peake-primary-project-evaluation
