Kevin Martin, Dr
Managing Director at Hughes Hall
Dr. Kevin Martin brings over 20 years of experience advancing global education equity. As Managing Director of the Digital Education Futures Initiative (DEFI) at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge, he drives strategic operations, global partnerships, and innovative educational programs. In addition to his management role at DEFI, Dr. Martin continues to actively engage in research and EdTech development, with interests spanning Design-Based Research, dialogic learning, and digital pedagogy. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration and Associate Dean at New England College, where he boosted enrolment and developed new programs; is a former Acumen Global Fellow, where he supported impactful solar initiatives in Tanzania; and is the former co-director of the Tanzanian Educational AIDS Mission, a rural-focused HIV/AIDS education initiative in Tanzania founded by his wife, Blair. He is a published researcher and a frequent speaker on educational innovation and technology. Dr. Martin also serves on several boards and consults on integrating technology with education to tackle global challenges. Dr. Martin recently received a Ph.D. in Education from the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge, where his research focused on enhancing small group learning in rural East Africa through mobile technology, and he holds an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise from UNC Chapel Hill.
