English specialist & educator, in Further Education /Sixth Form -colleges – teacher over 30 years. Currently Trustee ( & Fellow) of The English Association, Chair of Secondary & Further Education Committee – one if it’s ‘engines’ ; active participant in JoyFE community; writer on issues in English, Education – with a focus on community, student participation /action research. Researcher ( eg incl in ETF OTLA projects) in area of student consultation / student action research – involving students at every stage. Campaigner for reading initiatives cross-college ( successfully ran such a reading campaign in an FE college over 5 years). Worked on Literature in Action project involving colleges across the UK with the EA ( eg The Quaranteens – written by students during the pandemic). Currently involved, with 3 other colleagues from FE & HE, in further research into impact – particularly on teachers – of current English curriculum in Further Education. Also provide CPD for teachers in FE.
