Senior Lecturer at University of Glasgow

Ismail O. Zembat has a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from The Pennsylvania State University (USA), and a Master's (course work only) and BSc degree in Mathematics from Ankara University (Turkey). His Ph.D. (1999-2004) focused on the development of mathematical ideas (e.g., division of fractions) at the primary level. He previously worked as a lecturer at Hacettepe University, Turkey (2004-2007), as an assistant professor at United Arab Emirates University, UAE (2007-2012), as an associate/full professor (2012-2015 / 2016) at Mevlana University, Turkey. He has been working as a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics Education at the University of Glasgow since October 2018. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in curriculum and instruction, statistics, mathematics, and mathematics education, which are mostly informed by constructivist ideas. His research interests are mathematics teacher knowledge and curriculum development at both primary and secondary levels.
