Arif Mahmud, Dr

Senior Lecturer at University of Roehampton

Arif Mahmud is a Senior Lecturer in Educational Practice at the University of Roehampton, School of Education and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Arif graduated from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS, University of London) with a BA in Arabic and Islamic Studies. After graduating, he obtained a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) and taught in various higher educational institutions around the world, including in North Africa, South Asia and the Middle East. In 2013, he completed his MA in Education (Psychology) at UCL (Institute of Education, University of London). Arif completed his PhD in 2018 at Middlesex University, with his thesis focusing on the role of emotional intelligence in the development of adolescents’ social and emotional abilities and academic performance.
