Angela Jaap, Dr

Senior Lecturer in Teacher Education at University of Glasgow

Angela Jaap is a Senior Lecturer in Teacher Education at the University of Glasgow. She has a sustained career in teacher education and creative arts education, having taught across undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes at various HEIs in Scotland. At present, she is the interim Programme Leader for the MEd Professional Practice and she also works with colleagues in the School of Education and across the wider University to raise the importance of creative arts education for all.

Beyond her teaching responsibilities, Angela has a range of external professional commitments and from 2021-2023 was the President of the Scottish Educational Research Association (SERA). Angela has contributed to and led working groups to support developments in arts education and teacher education, with recognition of her work in these coming through her nomination to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2020.

Angela’s research interests lie primarily within arts education including supporting teachers’ professional learning in this area, professional learning and enquiry for teachers, early career development and learning with technology.
