BERA is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for our new Public Impact Awards. These are in partnership with SAGE and are reflective of our shared goal to recognise the significant impact of research and practice in the education community.
We encourage members to nominate peers who have shown demonstrable impact with their work. Using the REF criteria – impact is defined as an effect on, change or benefit to the economy, society, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment or quality of life, beyond academia.
Impact includes, but is not limited to, an effect on, change or benefit to:
the activity, attitude, awareness, behaviour, capacity, opportunity, performance, policy, practice, process or understanding;
of an audience, beneficiary, community, constituency, organisation or individuals; in any geographic location whether locally, regionally, nationally or internationally.
We are also inviting nominations for Public Impact Award – Policy and Practice. The criteria for this award is for a practitioner or policy-maker who has enacted or implemented policies that are well grounded in educational research, or who have been at the forefront of efforts to increase recognition and support for education research in public policy. The winner of this award will also be eligible for a year’s free membership of BERA.
Please send your 500 word nominations to Farzana.Rahman@bera.ac.uk by 5pm, 14th June. The winners of both awards will be announced ahead of the BERA Conference, 15 – 17 September. Both nominators and winners will be asked to write short articles for the BERA membership magazine: Research Intelligence, and submit blog posts for the BERA Blog on the theme of their work.
