2020 BERA Council Elections

BERA is pleased to invite interested members to stand as candidates in the 2020 BERA Council Elections.

We are seeking applications between 16th December 2019 and 23rd January 2020.

BERA Council is the governing body of the Association and the members of the Council are, de facto, the Trustees of the Association as registered Charity and Company Directors under Companies House regulations. BERA’s core aims are to advance research quality, build research capacity and foster research engagement. These aims are intended to secure the health of the discipline of education going forward and strengthen the contribution educational research can make in the public domain. Trustees are legally obliged to operate in the best interest of the entire charity at all times and are not elected to represent specialist interests or causes.

There are two vacancies on our Council, (Board of Trustees). These positions would begin on 1st September 2020 and end in August 2024.

BERA is particularly seeking representation from Northern Ireland, as well as early career researchers, practitioners and senior leaders in education. Nominations may be reviewed against the areas listed. We are committed to equal opportunities and we want BERA Council to benefit from the advantages that diversity brings, including different skills, life experiences and backgrounds. We would particularly welcome applications from all under-represented groups and backgrounds and we would  encourage  people who would bring fresh perspectives to the board.
