Association for the Study of Primary Education (ASPE) Seminar Series
Teaching English, language and literacy in the primary curriculum

One in a series of five conferences on the primary curriculum funded by the ASPE. This conference focuses on research evidence of relevance to the teaching of English, language and literacy in primary education.

Better literacy teaching is one of the most important issues facing education systems across the world. Learning to read and write is vital for children and for societies. For most primary and early years teachers, language and literacy is taught as part of the whole curriculum. This conference brings together some of the world’s leading literacy researchers (including colleagues from the USA) to explore the teaching of writing and reading in the primary curriculum.
