Katie is a Research Fellow at the University of Warwick, where she is currently leading work on the impact of small-group tutoring on GCSE resit attainment. Her research seeks to better understand how targeted interventions can improve outcomes for young people who require additional academic support. With a professional background spanning teaching, educational psychology, and student wellbeing, Katie brings a holistic perspective to her research, connecting theory with practical application in schools.
Her academic interests lie at the intersection of psychology and education, with a particular focus on how psychological processes shape learning and social development. Katie completed her PhD on the relationship between mindfulness and prosocial behaviour in children, examining how practices that enhance attention and emotional regulation might also encourage kindness, empathy, and cooperation.
In addition to her doctoral work, Katie has gained substantial experience in designing and delivering school-based research studies. She has utilised a range of mixed-methods approaches, combining quantitative measures of attainment and behaviour with rich qualitative insights from teachers, pupils, and school leaders.
