Paul Davies, Dr

Deputy Head Pedagogy and Learning at Queens College

Paul Davies is Deputy Head Pedagogy and Learning at Queen’s College, London, an independent day school for girls in central London. He oversees development of teaching and learning at the school, as well as being the professional tutor for Early Career Teachers and student teachers. Paul is also the Chartered College of Teaching Research Mark Plus lead at his school. Paul studied for a BSc in Zoology and then a PhD in Biology, before completing a PGCE in Science. He also has an MA in Science Education. Paul has taught for over 20 years in a range of independent and state schools as Head of Biology and Head of Science. He also spent six years as a Senior Lecturer in Science Education at UCL Institute of Education. Here he led the Science PGCE programme and supervised PhD students as well as carried out research into science education. Paul remains an Honorary Senior Lecturer at UCL and continues to publish. His research interests include teacher understanding of biological evolution, the use of objects in learning and the role of technology in learning. Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, the Linnean Society and The Chartered College of Teaching.
