My career in education began as a class teacher for eighteen years specifically teaching the 3 – 7 age range. My positions of responsibility included geography and mathematics subject lead, being part of the senior leadership team, a local authority key stage one moderator and a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) focusing on the Maximising the Impact of Teaching Assistants (MITA) training.
I am currently a senior lecturer in Initial Teacher Education as a member of the Early Years Education Department at Edge Hill University working on both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes teaching a range of subjects, modules and leading on Intensive Training and Practice.
I have recently completed a Masters in Educational Practice in Mathematics and I am passionate about mathematical pedagogy and supporting trainee teachers on their journey to teach mathematics to young children.
