Ralph Pite, Mr

University of Bristol

Ralph Pite teaches English Literature at the University of Bristol and specialises in ecocritical studies. His most recent book, Edward Thomas’s Prose: Truth, Mystery, and the Natural World will be published by OUP in October 2025; he’s written also on Thomas Hardy, Romantic period poetry, and contemporary poetry. The book he is currently completing (titled Robert Frost and Eco-Georgic) argues that Frost’s poems about farming speak powerfully to many aspects of the current environmental emergency. Ralph Pite has published original poetry and translations from Italian. The present paper arises out of his project to develop secondary materials that bring an Arts and Humanities perspective to climate change education generally and, in particular, the new GCSE in Natural History. The project is being taken forward in collaboration with colleagues in Bristol, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Worcester and West Midlands schools
