Louise Hawxwell, Miss

Lecturer in Teacher Education (Primary) at University of Edinburgh, Moray House School of Education and Sport

I am a teacher educator, currently working in Primary ITE at Moray House School of Education, University of Edinburgh, previously at Edge Hill University, Lancashire. Prior to this I was a primary school teacher in the Northwest of England for 10 years. My PhD research focuses on my own relationship with the outdoors and my practice as a teacher educator, exploring the ways relationships with the outdoors are entangled with the materiality of memories, childhood outdoor experiences, and teacher educator practices and beliefs. My research explores relationality using a common worlds theoretical and conceptual framework underpinned by posthuman and feminist materialist thinking. My research makes use of creative and playful methods including practices of storytelling and different ways of attending to nonhuman materialities within the outdoors.
