Cassie Buchanan is the executive headteacher of Charles Dickens Primary School and Nursery based in Southwark, London and the CEO of The Charter Schools Educational Trust, a growing trust of secondary and primary schools in South London.
Charles Dickens Primary School is a DFE Teaching School Hub, Education Endowment Foundation Research School and Behaviour Hub lead school. Its mission is to promote evidence-informed approaches to teaching and learning through collaboration and partnership work. The school’s specialism is the use of language teaching to support children in developing emotionally, socially and academically. The school has been judged to be outstanding since 2008 and most recently in September 2020.
Cassie has represented schools on DFE advisory committees, including those linked to Early Years, Teacher wellbeing and workload. Cassie has been an Ofsted inspector, National Leader of Education and was awarded an OBE for services to education in January 2021.
