Catherine Doherty is professor of pedagogy and social justice at the University of Glasgow. She is a sociologist of education and her research interests include curriculum, pedagogy, mobile populations, teacher education, sociolinguistics and social theory. She worked in sex education, adult literacy, migrant English, university preparation and literacy policy before moving into teacher education first in Australia, then in Scotland.
