Corina van Doodewaard (1969) is dean of and senior lecturer in the PETE-faculty of at the Windesheim University of Applied Science in Zwolle (the Netherlands). The focus of her teaching in the bachelor and master programs is on critical perspectives on physical education and sport pedagogy.

Her professional development began with earning a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (1991), followed by a bachelor in Pedagogical Sciences (2008), and a master in Youth, Education and Society (cum laude, 2009) at Utrecht University.

She began her (part time) PhD program in 2012. She uses pedagogical and sociocultural perspectives to study on the connections and intersections in the constructions of the body, identity and social justice issues by physical educators. . Her supervisor is prof. dr. Annelies Knoppers.

She used this perspective to explore how teachers in multi ethnic schools address difference and to critically look at the development of video-instruction In PE. Currently her critical lens focuses on her own context: the PETE university. She explores if and how PETE-students perceive they deal with justice and equity issues during their internships s and how they negotiate and reconstruct notions of professionalism to incorporate student diversity and inclusion.
