BERA UCET RAE 2008 Review

BERA is delighted to provide the results of research commissioned jointly with the Universities Council for the Education of Teachers (UCET) into the impacts of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) on educational research undertaken in UK higher education institutions.

The report is presented as a whole but was undertaken as two separate pieces of work. The main report is an analysis of the RAE 2008, and its impact on educational research in the UK, carried out by colleagues at the University of Oxford.

This is supported by a more detailed analysis of the financial impacts of the RAE, carried out by colleagues at the Institute of Education, London.

The report as a whole therefore provides a significant analysis of the impacts of the RAE 2008 on educational research in its different aspects, from the experiences of individual researchers to departmental and institutional effects and the financial implications of the funding allocations of the RAE.
