The Graduate School of Education is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Professor or Associate Professor of Creativity in Primary Education to expand academic leadership following its success in the Research Excellence Framework in which it was ranked 8th overall in the UK for world-leading research, second in terms of 4* research outputs. The School has a large number of doctoral and Masters level students from all over the world and a highly regarded Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) currently rated as the third best Higher Education PGCE in England by the ‘Good Teacher Training Guide’.

The successful applicant will lead and develop the ‘Creativity, Sustainability and Educational Futures’ research network in the Graduate School of Education. This network brings together academics and research students concerned with exploring issues in curriculum, pedagogy and learning for creativity and sustainability in education. It also seeks to explore implications for learning futures at a systemic level which may encompass issues of diversity, social justice, ethics and power relations. It is committed to working collaboratively with colleagues across related disciplines, to generating new research income, and to building capacity generally in through publications, conferences, dissemination of findings and best practice.

The new appointment will contribute to the research and teaching profile of this network and have a strategic vision for developing the network into a Research Centre, to grow its contribution through successful external grant bidding, developing a postdoctoral research team and attracting strong doctoral candidates. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of having attracted and successfully managed large, externally funded research grants, high quality research publications and experience of successful doctoral supervision. The successful applicant is likely to have a background in Primary teacher education and will be committed to strong academic leadership in the School.

Salary: £53,508 to £67,413

Hours: Full Time
